Unlocking Worlds - Traverse Town

Most days things are quiet in Traverse Town, sure there's the occasional person displaced from their world, and the Heartless attack every now and then, but for the most part, it's just day to day life that takes place.

But, today is different, everyone can feel it in the air.

One by one by one, more and more people start arriving from different worlds. It's an influx like the town hasn't seen in a long time.

With each new resident, the town alters itself slightly, adding more room for everyone.

((With this grand opening post, this community is now open for play! Everyone is welcome to post to this intro or post your own to the community.

Also, characters do not have to arrive by their worlds being destroyed, there are alternate ways to show up in town, if you so desire.

Welcome and have fun!))

"Definitely dangerous," Lea said. "And I'm not sure I'd call myself a good guy quite yet. Spent quite awhile on the wrong side of things before I wised up. Long story. But if all goes well, there'll be seven of us and maybe a few extra, so we won't have to go it alone."

"Unfortunately, Master Xehanort's not alone either," he said. "His whole big plan was set up so that he could spread copies of his heart among thirteen different bodies. So just like we've got our Seven Guardians of Light, he's got his Thirteen Seekers of Darkness. And I doubt that any of them are pushovers either; the ones we know of for sure definitely aren't."

"As for the guy I used to work with, I wouldn't call him grumpy exactly," Lea said. "But if you look up the term 'strong, silent type' in the dictionary, you'd probably find his picture next to it. He's got being stoic down to an art form; I worked with the guy for over ten years and ran into him off and on before then as a kid, and in all that time I've seen him smile literally maybe once or twice."
wreckofaguy: (This is NOT good.)

Ralph tilts his head slightly, "Well, if it helps ya feel any better, I'm a Bad Guy back in my game."

Though, that was about the best thing he had to say. He still didn't understand most of what Lea was talking about, but he could do the math. "It sounds like yer pretty outnumbered, there's a lot more of 'em than there are of you." Well, that's how a lot of games went, there had to be more Bad Guys than Good Guys in order to give the gamers a challenge, but usually the odds weren't that lopsided in terms of strength.

Ralph snorts, "Sounds like a fun guy to be around." Not that he was one to talk, in one of his moods, he could go a while without smiling. But, he wore all his emotions on his sleeve, you always knew exactly what Wreck-It Ralph was feeling.

"Hmm, really?", Lea said. "I wouldn't have guessed. You seem like a pretty decent guy to me."

"But yeah, it's gonna be tough," he said. "Fortunately though, we're tough too. We'll find a way to pull it out in the end; Sora and his friends always have before."

He chuckled. "Yeah. Don't get me wrong; he's a great guy to have on your side in a fight. But noooot much of a conversationalist."
wreckofaguy: (Heh)

I'm so sorry for the delay!

Ralph nods proudly, "Yeah, it's my job to wreck the building for the gamers to fix. Not to brag or anything, but I give 'em a pretty good challenge." One way or another, the game usually went to Ralph, the gamers had only a few lives, while Ralph kept on going.

He thinks on this, "Right. If I know anything, I know that the Good Guys are supposed to win. Might be pretty hard for 'em, an' ya might have to put in a lotta quarters, but at the end of the day, that's th' point of the game."

Ralph grins lopsidedly, "My best friend back at home can talk and talk, wonder if she'd get him to crack."

Sokay! :3

"I bet you do," Lea said. "I mean, you look like you could take out a whole house in one punch."

He smiled at Ralph's assessment of the situation. Xehanort was hardly playing games, but in a way, it worked. "Heh... Wish Xehanort knew that," he said. "Maybe then we wouldn't be stuck playing for such high stakes. Though now I'm picturing someone throwing munny at him to win, which is kinda an awesome image, so thanks."

"Maybe," he said, smile widening a bit. "Hopefully, once everything's settled, we'll be able to bring him around so we can test that out. Though I've got my own promises to keep first."
wreckofaguy: (Let's do this!)

Thanks! ^_^

Ralph grins, "Just about! It takes 'em a while to fix up the apartment building, even with Felix's magic hammer." Wrecking things was the one thing he was really good at, and most of the time, he took great pride in it.

He chuckles, "Hey, you never know, it might work. I think there's a couple of game characters that use money in attacks, I know Sonic's got his rings." He had seen the rings firsthand on a couple of occasions. Being a walking hazard and his incident with the escape pod hadn't been too kind to the Hedgehog.

Ralph nods, "Right. Plus, if this isn't a game, gettin' back an' forth from the games to the gamers' world might be a problem." He's still attempting to cling to the hope that he's in some weird game, but the longer things go on, the more unlikely it's looking. Though, in the long run, it didn't matter so much, as he only had one life in any game besides his own, so he's assuming that it works the same outside of the games as well.

Welcome. :)

"Magic hammer?" Lea repeated. "Huh... That's a new one on me. I've heard of magic weapons before and have some myself, but this is the first I've ever heard of a regular tool-type hammer being magic. At least I assume it's a regular sort of hammer; I imagine a sledgehammer or something would just wreck things more, even if it was magic."

"Somehow I doubt throwing munny at this particular problem is going to work," he said, amused. "Though if you had, I dunno, a bunch of gold bars or something to throw at him, that'd probably hurt if you could manage to hit him with one. Though chances are, if you have a bunch of gold bars, you can afford something better to use as a weapon."

"Yeah that might be an issue," he said. "Hopefully we'd be able to use the equipment that sent Sora into the computer to do it, but I figure we'll have to leave that up to the more technical types. I can use a computer just fine, but anything that complex is a little outside my wheelhouse."

wreckofaguy: (Let me think about that.)

Sorry again for the delay!

[personal profile] wreckofaguy 2018-06-07 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Ralph nods, "Yep! I think his dad gave it to him, at least, that's what his backstory says." He had never actually met Fix-It Felix Sr., so he wasn't sure if the character even existed. "His hammer looks like a regular hammer, 'cept it's gold. He grins, "'Sides, a sledgehammer'd be more my style." His fists did the job well enough, but he sometimes wondered how fun it'd be to use a sledgehammer.

He shakes his head, still grinning, "Hey, it was a thought. I think chuckin' bricks at 'im'd probably be more effective, anyway." That was something else he was good at.

That was pretty good news as far as he was concerned, "That could work! I dunno 'bout technology myself, but I figure if somebody built it, they've gotta know how it works, right?" There had to be a Programmer behind it somewhere.

Right back atcha

[personal profile] hotheadwarmheart 2018-06-17 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
"Huh... Is backstory stuff that actually happened for you guys, or is it just stuff that the game says happened?", Lea asked. Talking to a video game character brought all kinds of interesting questions like this to mind. "And if its the latter, can you guys tell the difference?"

"That'd probably be better yeah," he agreed with an amused smile of his own. "Definitely cheaper. And I'm pretty sure there's some kinds of Earth-elemental magic that involves attacking with big rocks, so it might work similarly to that."

He nodded. "Finding the guy who built it might be kinda tricky," he said. "But thankfully, he's not the only technical type around, so somebody ought to be able to figure it out."
wreckofaguy: (Heh)

No worries and sorry again!

[personal profile] wreckofaguy 2018-06-29 03:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Ralph thinks for just a moment, making a small noise in concentration, "Backstory is stuff that the game says happened. We remember it as if it really did happen, but sometimes it feels kinda more like a dream. It can be kinda hazy, depending on things. They didn't program everything that coulda happened in our pasts, so sometimes there's holes. An' sometimes, yer backstory is important to who ya are. I've heard some people remember stuff like it really happened."

He's not familiar with elementals, but he's aware of magic, so he can kinda puzzle out what Lea's talking about, "Maybe! There's a lotta special abilities out there, so somebody else has gotta be able to do somethin' with bricks."

Ralph's smile fades a little, "Oh..." but then brightens right back up, "Really?! Are any of yer friends one of 'em that can make it work?" It seemed like this place was pretty big, so it'd be easier if Lea knew exactly where to find somebody to help.

"Interesting," Lea said. "And kinda weird to think about too. I mean, it's not like humans remember everything perfectly either, so what if the stuff we remember is really just backstory somebody made up? I mean, I knew a girl who had the power to alter people's memories, and once she was done, nobody she worked on could tell the difference between the memories she created and their real ones."

"Yeah," he said. "There's a guy named Cid back in Radiant Garden. He seems to be the resident tech-guy, but there are a few at Disney Castle that are no slouches either."
wreckofaguy: (I'm not sure about this...)

[personal profile] wreckofaguy 2018-07-10 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a lot for Ralph to take in, he tilts his head, making a thoughtful noise, "Maybe? I mean, we've got programmers an' stuff, so maybe gamers have programmers, too?" But, then who programmed the programmers and their programmers and their programmers... and it was just too much to think about.

"If she can change people's memories, does that mean she's a programmer?" He's sort of using the term as a catch-all for creator, he's hazy on the details, but he knows that it takes a lot of people to make a game work.

Ralph gently scratches the back of his neck with a massive hand as he thinks this over, "Great! But, uh, are those places anywhere nearby?" Were they in this game or area? Or, would they have to travel someplace else to find them?
hotheadwarmheart: (Default)

[personal profile] hotheadwarmheart 2018-07-16 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
Lea considered for a moment. "I guess you could call her a 'programmer'," he said. "Kinda anyway. She didn't write computer code or anything, just drew pictures, but her powers still rewrote people's memories that way, so... I dunno. As far as I know, she's unique, though, in more ways than just her powers."

"That's where things might get a little difficult," he said. "See, Radiant Garden is where I was trying to get to when I ended up here. I'm honestly not sure how it happened; this place isn't between there and where I was so either I was way off course or something really weird is going on for both of us. Especially since this world normally wouldn't be here."

"See, Traverse Town is kinda a unique world," he said. "It only appears when someone is lost or traveling between worlds and needs a refuge. Which might explain how you ended up here; if you did get pulled out of your game world somehow, Traverse Town would probably the point of least resistance for you to get into our world. But that doesn't explain me being here."
wreckofaguy: (Listening to what you're saying)

[personal profile] wreckofaguy 2018-07-23 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Ralph follows what Lea's saying pretty well, strange powers aren't anything new to him, he's seen a lot of weird stuff in the arcade, but he's still got questions. "Really? Why's she unique?" If she had other powers, maybe she could help him find the way back home.

He had been doing his best to not think about the whole 'not being in a video game' thing, but it's not something he can really avoid at the moment. He frowns as Lea says that he was trying to go somewhere else before he ended up here. Even worse, there's something strange about the place they were both in.

Ralph rubs his face, trying to process all of this, "Okay, so, uh, let's say we're both lost. I dunno how I got here, unless I hopped a train after a long night at Tapper's, but, I don't remember even goin' to Tapper's last night, so that's probably out."

He looks at Lea, and gestures with his hands as he speaks, "You said you were tryin' to go somewhere else? What if you reverse what you did or how ya traveled to try an' get back to where ya started from, then do it again to get where you were tryin' to go?" He's a little confused on the matter, but he's thinking that it worked like trains, you get back on the train you had ridden to get back to the Station, then you take the train you meant to get on in the first place.
