Unlocking Worlds - Traverse Town

Most days things are quiet in Traverse Town, sure there's the occasional person displaced from their world, and the Heartless attack every now and then, but for the most part, it's just day to day life that takes place.

But, today is different, everyone can feel it in the air.

One by one by one, more and more people start arriving from different worlds. It's an influx like the town hasn't seen in a long time.

With each new resident, the town alters itself slightly, adding more room for everyone.

((With this grand opening post, this community is now open for play! Everyone is welcome to post to this intro or post your own to the community.

Also, characters do not have to arrive by their worlds being destroyed, there are alternate ways to show up in town, if you so desire.

Welcome and have fun!))

No worries and sorry again!

Ralph thinks for just a moment, making a small noise in concentration, "Backstory is stuff that the game says happened. We remember it as if it really did happen, but sometimes it feels kinda more like a dream. It can be kinda hazy, depending on things. They didn't program everything that coulda happened in our pasts, so sometimes there's holes. An' sometimes, yer backstory is important to who ya are. I've heard some people remember stuff like it really happened."

He's not familiar with elementals, but he's aware of magic, so he can kinda puzzle out what Lea's talking about, "Maybe! There's a lotta special abilities out there, so somebody else has gotta be able to do somethin' with bricks."

Ralph's smile fades a little, "Oh..." but then brightens right back up, "Really?! Are any of yer friends one of 'em that can make it work?" It seemed like this place was pretty big, so it'd be easier if Lea knew exactly where to find somebody to help.

"Interesting," Lea said. "And kinda weird to think about too. I mean, it's not like humans remember everything perfectly either, so what if the stuff we remember is really just backstory somebody made up? I mean, I knew a girl who had the power to alter people's memories, and once she was done, nobody she worked on could tell the difference between the memories she created and their real ones."

"Yeah," he said. "There's a guy named Cid back in Radiant Garden. He seems to be the resident tech-guy, but there are a few at Disney Castle that are no slouches either."
wreckofaguy: (I'm not sure about this...)

That's a lot for Ralph to take in, he tilts his head, making a thoughtful noise, "Maybe? I mean, we've got programmers an' stuff, so maybe gamers have programmers, too?" But, then who programmed the programmers and their programmers and their programmers... and it was just too much to think about.

"If she can change people's memories, does that mean she's a programmer?" He's sort of using the term as a catch-all for creator, he's hazy on the details, but he knows that it takes a lot of people to make a game work.

Ralph gently scratches the back of his neck with a massive hand as he thinks this over, "Great! But, uh, are those places anywhere nearby?" Were they in this game or area? Or, would they have to travel someplace else to find them?

Lea considered for a moment. "I guess you could call her a 'programmer'," he said. "Kinda anyway. She didn't write computer code or anything, just drew pictures, but her powers still rewrote people's memories that way, so... I dunno. As far as I know, she's unique, though, in more ways than just her powers."

"That's where things might get a little difficult," he said. "See, Radiant Garden is where I was trying to get to when I ended up here. I'm honestly not sure how it happened; this place isn't between there and where I was so either I was way off course or something really weird is going on for both of us. Especially since this world normally wouldn't be here."

"See, Traverse Town is kinda a unique world," he said. "It only appears when someone is lost or traveling between worlds and needs a refuge. Which might explain how you ended up here; if you did get pulled out of your game world somehow, Traverse Town would probably the point of least resistance for you to get into our world. But that doesn't explain me being here."
wreckofaguy: (Listening to what you're saying)

Ralph follows what Lea's saying pretty well, strange powers aren't anything new to him, he's seen a lot of weird stuff in the arcade, but he's still got questions. "Really? Why's she unique?" If she had other powers, maybe she could help him find the way back home.

He had been doing his best to not think about the whole 'not being in a video game' thing, but it's not something he can really avoid at the moment. He frowns as Lea says that he was trying to go somewhere else before he ended up here. Even worse, there's something strange about the place they were both in.

Ralph rubs his face, trying to process all of this, "Okay, so, uh, let's say we're both lost. I dunno how I got here, unless I hopped a train after a long night at Tapper's, but, I don't remember even goin' to Tapper's last night, so that's probably out."

He looks at Lea, and gestures with his hands as he speaks, "You said you were tryin' to go somewhere else? What if you reverse what you did or how ya traveled to try an' get back to where ya started from, then do it again to get where you were tryin' to go?" He's a little confused on the matter, but he's thinking that it worked like trains, you get back on the train you had ridden to get back to the Station, then you take the train you meant to get on in the first place.
